Ironman iControl 600 Weight Extended Disk Brake System Inversion Table Review

January 28, 2019 By Spine Vault

Ironman iControl 600 Weight Extended Disk Brake System Inversion Table Review

The iControl 600 by Ironman features a heavy-duty frame made out of stainless-steel, an Air Tech backrest complete with ribbed foam for a more comfortable inversion experience, and an innovative open space design that makes getting on and off the table much easier. This Ironman inversion table is used by many as a method of back pain treatment at home.

Ironman Inversion Table: iControl 600 Overview and Features

This Ironman inversion table is perfect for fitness enthusiasts and people in need of inversion therapy for back pain.

The table’s open space design removes the front support bar that you’ll find on most models of inversion tables. This change in design will make it easier for users to get on and off the table.

Frame

The oval-shaped powder coated frame and durable construction make the table incredibly stable and durable. You won’t have to worry about the table moving or rocking during use.

Weight Capacity

The table has a max user weight of three hundred pounds and can accommodate users ranging from four feet, ten inches, up to six feet, six inches.

Comfort

The backrest measures in at just under three inches of thickness. The soft ribbed back foam features the patented Ironman’s Air Tech design. This backrest will firmly and evenly support the head and back while promoting improved airflow when you’re inverted.

Safety Handles

The table features extra-long safety handles that will allow you to slowly invert and easily return to the upright position once treatment is over.

Brakes

The iControl 600 comes equipped with an innovative disc brake system that replaces the traditional tether strap setup. This system provides better control over the inversion angle. Users will be able to the lock the backrest to almost any angle.

Stretching Bar

The manufacturer includes a stretching bar that’s perfect for strengthening the back muscles and full stretches.

Stability

This table feels surprising secure, safe, and stable. The table will not slide or move during inversion therapy, even if you use the table for inversion table exercises.

Ankle Lock System

The ankle locks are easy to use, but you won’t find them very comfortable. With minimal padding the ankle lock system mainly consists of hard plastic. When you’re fully inverted, an extensive amount of pressure is placed on the ankles, causing the plastic material to dig into sensitive spots. Most users recommend wearing pants and a pair of thick socks to make treatment more comfortable. The front portion of the ankle lock system is spring loaded, which means it will always end up locking tightly onto the ankles.

The longer than average locking pin will help prevent users from having to bend over too far to secure their ankles before inversion.

This system also offers a few options that you can use for a more custom fit. The adjustable ankle system is secured in place with the use of a couple of bolts. You’ll have the ability to adjust the bolts to some degree, however, adjusting up or down a full size can be time-consuming.

What is iControl?

Check on Amazon

In the fitness world, there’s plenty of buzz going around about this iControl feature, which is one of the reasons this table is a big seller.

iControl is what the manufacturer calls their innovative angle locking system. This system is supposed to be very reliable and replaces the Smart Gear feature that you’ll find on older models of Ironman inversion tables.

The new braking system is a great feature if you want to work out on your inversion table because it allows the table to invert at any degree. This means you can continue to challenge your core muscles, so you can see faster results. Other models, such as the Health Mark inversion table have preset inversion angles, which can make it very limiting for both inversion therapy and core workouts. The iControl system allows you to fully invert easily. Even better, the table can be locked at any angle. This is obviously a huge selling point for this model, however, it’s a feature that’s more beneficial for core workouts not inversion therapy treatment. With inversion therapy, people often use a sixty-degree inversion angle, with a max angle of just eighty-five degrees. So, as you can see, this type of versatility will not be that important to people who use the inversion table for back pain treatment.

Because of the table’s braking system, there’s really no way the user can adjust the table’s responsiveness by changing the pivot position. This table feels more like an ab trainer than an inversion therapy table, which is why the manufacturers decided to include this braking system in order to give fitness enthusiasts the ability to lock it down at full inversion, a feature that most tables don’t have.

Assembly

The table arrives semi-assembled. All you’ll have to do is put the stand together, attach the handles and some smaller parts. The package comes with a hex wrench, screwdriver, and a couple of Allen wrenches. The included instructions feature images for each step of the assembly process, which makes the job a little easier. Still, you can expect to spend over an hour putting the table together.

Storage

Folding the table’s legs can turn the very long table into a bulky, heavy device that has to be propped against the wall. The table weighs sixty-six pounds which can make it difficult to move and store away, once treatment is over. While the table can be folded down, it’s not exactly a space-saving design.

Pros

  • Efficient disc brake system
  • Comfortable, breathable backrest
  • Strong steel frame
  • Foldable design
  • Fast and easy assembly
  • Extra-long safety handles
  • The table can be locked at full inversion

Cons

  • Uncomfortable ankle lock system
  • This model is designed more for intense ab workouts than inversion therapy
Ironman iControl 600 Conclusion and Rating

Spine Vault.com Product Rating: (4.5/5)

Ironman iControl 600The iControl 600 by Ironman offers a unique take on an inversion therapy table. In fact, this table is more designed for serious ab workouts than back pain treatment. The biggest selling point for the table is the ability to lock it down at any angle. While this feature may not interest buyers suffering from back pain, it will be a huge selling point for anyone looking for an inversion table that can provide a stable, intense core workout. We gave this table a rating of four and a half out of five stars.
